A downtown Des Moines-based company is seeking a Business Analyst to join its team ASAP for a long-term contract position. The ideal candidate will have experience across all phases of the project lifecycle, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to manage deadlines.

What You Will Do:

  • Collaborate with leadership, technical partners, and SMEs to obtain and record requirements for Iowa applications and systems
  • Create and maintain user stories, acceptance criteria, and design documents within DoIT systems for team-wide use
  • Manage prioritizing, tracing, maintaining, documenting, and assessing changes to workflows, system processes, and business practices
  • Serve as project manager or quality assurance analyst for smaller projects
  • Research and analyze data to identify problems and recommend solutions, including process changes, method updates, or product/service redesigns
  • Maintain up-to-date project information, timelines, statuses, issues, and risks for accurate reporting
  • Use an agile methodology framework to focus on delivering value while maintaining flexibility to create the most effective outcome
  • Participate in forms and database analysis

What You Will Need to Be Successful:

  • Process mapping, data gathering and analysis, group facilitation, and full project life cycle experience
  • Experience contributing to software delivery within an Agile team environment
  • Ability to perform while managing deadlines and shifting priorities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Project)
  • Proficiency with using requirement gathering tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, RTC, or TFS
  • Ability to analyze user needs and business strategies to document and translate them into clear system requirements
  • Ability to lead stakeholders in developing business cases for new functionality, covering cost‑benefit, risk, and impact assessments
