Palmer Group is searching for a Project Engineer for our privately held and family-owned client. This role will lead capital projects from concept through commissioning, supporting the installation of processing and packaging equipment for an upcoming production facility. The role requires strong experience with PLC programming environments, particularly Rockwell and Allen-Bradley platforms, as well as the ability to collaborate with engineering, operations, maintenance, contractors, and external OEM partners. Significant travel is expected during the first year to support onboarding and training at established facilities.

What You Will Do:

  • Manage capital projects from initial design through installation, startup, and plant acceptance
  • Oversee contractor activities across all trades and coordinate with OEM technicians
  • Lead installation, I/O checkout, equipment commissioning, and system validation
  • Develop specifications for OEM equipment, automation hardware, and control panels
  • Give direction for HMI applications and PLC ladder logic programming
  • Serve as a technical resource for multiple facilities as needed, supporting troubleshooting and optimization
  • Collaborate with internal automation and controls teams on network integration and controls planning
  • Drive continuous improvement and equipment optimization initiatives across production sites

What You Will Need to Be Successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field (preferred)
  • Minimum of five years of experience managing technical projects in FDA-regulated environments
  • Strong proficiency with Allen‑Bradley PLC platforms and Rockwell Automation software
  • Experience supporting commissioning activities for process or packaging equipment
  • AutoCAD experience (preferred)
