Our Des Moines-based client is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Welding Engineer to develop and optimize welding procedures, enhance quality standards, and integrate advanced welding technologies, including robotic solutions. What you will do:

  • Create and qualify Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), and Welder Performance Qualification Records (WPQR) per AWS, ASME, and other industry standards
  • Implement process improvements to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency, including supporting robotic welding integration
  • Provide technical guidance on joint design, welder accessibility, weld distortion, and defect prevention
  • Conduct Engineering Drawing Reviews (EDR) and recommend changes to improve manufacturing outcomes
  • Develop training programs for welding operators and Quality Assurance personnel, ensuring proper weld inspection procedures
  • Enforce safety regulations and proactively address hazards while adhering to company and regulatory standards

What you will need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in welding engineering, materials engineering, metallurgical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or equivalent career experience
  • Expertise in Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), metallurgy, and industry welding codes (AWS D1.1, AWS D14.3)
  • Hands-on experience with robotic welding systems, including specification, implementation, and programming
  • Relevant AWS certifications, such as Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Welding Engineer (CWE), or the ability to obtain certification post-employment
