Our client, a growing construction-focused organization, is seeking an experienced Controller to lead all accounting and financial operations. This highly visible role will oversee a small accounting team, ensure accurate financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and provide strategic insight to leadership.

This position requires deep construction accounting experience, including job costing, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable in the details and at the leadership table — someone who can manage day-to-day accounting operations while translating financial data into actionable business insights. For the right individual, this role offers long-term growth potential.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, job cost accounting, WIP, revenue recognition, and month-end close
  • Oversee accurate financial reporting and provide insight into project profitability, margins, and cost performance
  • Partner with operations to ensure job cost integrity, billing accuracy, and proactive financial management of projects
  • Manage cash flow forecasting and support budgeting and financial planning efforts
  • Maintain strong internal controls, ensure GAAP compliance, and coordinate audits and tax activities
  • Develop and mentor the accounting team while driving process improvements to support company growth

What You Will Need to Be Successful:

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience (construction)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, revenue recognition, WIP reporting, and cost accounting within construction
  • Expertise in cash flow management, internal controls, and ERP systems
  • Advanced Excel proficiency
  • Strong leadership presence and ability to influence across departments
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to operate in both tactical and high-level capacities
