The Controls Engineer will support controls and automation projects across multiple manufacturing facilities, including new system installations, upgrades, and on-site troubleshooting. The role requires advanced experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, HMI development, process area programming, and the design of control system architecture. This engineer will work closely with internal teams and external partners to develop, standardize, and implement robust automation solutions. Significant travel is expected during the first several months for onboarding at another plant.

What You Will Do: 

  • Oversee the development, installation, and commissioning of plant control and automation systems
  • Configure PLCs and build HMI applications for both new machinery and legacy equipment
  • Maintain and troubleshoot automation platforms within a tiered support structure
  • Engineer and specify control panels, hardware components, and communication networks
  • Establish, refine, and uphold process control standards across production operations
  • Manage and collaborate with third‑party controls engineering partners
  • Contribute to MES data acquisition efforts and assist with system‑level integrations as needed
  • What You Will Need to Be Successful:  
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Minimum of seven years in controls or automation engineering within manufacturing
  • Strong background in industries with sanitary standards such as food or consumer goods
  • Advanced experience programming Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLCs
  • Advanced HMI development experience
  • Understanding of object‑oriented programming principles
  • Familiarity with control panel design and process area programming
  • Experience with MES systems, .NET environments, SQL databases, or Ethernet/IP communications preferred
  • Ability to travel heavily during initial onboarding
