Director of Accounting

We are seeking an experienced Director of Accounting to join a growing organization in Des Moines. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of corporate accounting experience, strong month-end close expertise, and a proven track record of leading and developing teams.

What You Will Do:

• Collaborate with the Controller and accounting team to manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, delivering timely and accurate financial statements for multiple entities
• Maintain complete and accurate general ledger activity, including journal entries, accruals, and account classifications
• Prepare consolidated financial statements, disclosures, footnotes, and supporting schedules
• Support external auditors by providing required documentation and explanations during the annual audit
• Oversee accounting and financial reporting to ensure GAAP compliance

What You Will Need To Be Successful:

• CPA not required, though a solid corporate accounting foundation is essential
• Experience working in start-up or scaling environments is highly valuable
• Prior insurance industry background is a strong plus
