Controller

This 100+-year-old client of ours is seeking a Controller to oversee the operations of their accounting department. Responsibilities:

• Work to continuously improve, maintain, and enforce documented systems of accounting policies and procedures
• Utilize technology advancements for efficiency and automation
• Oversee the operations of the accounting department with the Chief Financial Officer
• Evaluate the effectiveness of ERP and supporting database
• Prepare, process, or ensure daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual employee benefits account reconciliation
• Monitor, value, and track assets
• Oversee payroll and accounts payable processing
• Manage billings and accounts receivable collections
• Prepare or ensure daily and monthly bank and account reconciliations
• Improving efficiencies by maintaining and modifying the chart of accounts
• Maintain an orderly accounting electronic file system
• Ensure appropriate cash balances among multiple accounts and entities
• Maintain appropriate internal controls over accounting transactions
• Hire, train, and develop skilled accounting staff

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• 8+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred
• Strong process improvement and problem-solving skills
• Experience leading and managing a team
• Construction industry knowledge is a plus
• Experience working with multiple entities is preferred
• Previous experience managing payroll is a bonus
