Director – Actuary

Palmer Group has partnered with this established client to fill the Director – Actuary position. In this role, you will focus on providing actuarial expertise for products, financial reporting and analysis, asset and liability modeling, ALM, and product pricing and collaborate closely with multiple teams within the organization. Responsibilities:

• Oversee the reporting and modeling of products
• Analyze and review results and communicate findings to senior actuarial staff and identify potential solutions items to improve profitability or mitigate risk
• Suggest process improvements related to actuarial calculations, monthly reporting, and modeling including model architecture, inputs and outputs, data structuring, and spreadsheet design
• Conduct experience studies, including documentation of process, results, and recommended assumption changes
• Provide direction to and drive the development of actuarial staff to ensure compliance with requirements, actuarial guidelines, and industry best practices as determined by the company
• Manage multiple workstreams leveraging project management skillsets and tools
• Provide support the Investment Team and external asset managers to advance asset liability management and investment workstreams
• Manage direct reports, including overseeing workflow, providing feedback, fostering a positive work environment, training, hiring, and performance management

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree with at least a minor in actuarial science, mathematics, or statistics or a related field
• ASA designation
• FSA designation preferred
• 5+ years in an actuarial role
• Prior experience with Corporate Actuarial workstreams, including ALM, cash-flow testing, and actuarial valuation and projection models
• Demonstrated management and leadership experience
• Financial reporting experience
