Our client is seeking a Sales Manager with the demonstrated ability to develop and set strategic goals with the management team. This role will utilize short and long-term market forecasts and reports while developing recommendations to increase volume and revenue opportunities in specific accounts and markets. Responsibilities:

  • Create a Business Development Team to grow the company  
  • Lead, coach, and develop Business Development Team skills to build customer relationships with high-level decision-makers that lead to new business and create additional opportunities with current accounts
  • Manage the CRM (Salesforce.com) for all sales activities
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard new employees
  • Set strategic goals by utilizing short and long-term market forecasts and reports
  • Develop recommendations to increase volume and revenue opportunities in specific accounts and markets, lead in setting team and individual goals
  • Ensure gross margin growth commensurate with volume growth
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Occupational Safety Procedure, and all Food Safety guidelines related to the position or being on the Warehouse floor

Requirements:

  • 4-year degree and work history selling/managing in one or more of the Produce/Retail/Foodservice/Distribution industries, preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of outside B2B sales experience
  • 4 to 5 years experience as a sales manager of an outside B2B sales team
  • Proven track record in managing an account team responsible for customer retention, increasing product penetration and volume to existing customer base without discounting
  • Has built a sales team from infancy to success with experience in developing and coaching a team of 3 to 5 people
  • Previous experience managing a consultative sales process with a thorough discovery phase
  • Experience managing sales representatives’ sales activities and processes using a CRM
  • Willingness to travel 55 – 65% of the time throughout the Midwest region and occasionally nationwide to trade shows and meetings

Preferred:

  • Previous experience working for a family business
  • Experience in one of the following industries: Transportation or Distribution, Wholesale Food, and Beverage Distribution, Agricultural Sales, Manufacturer Sales Rep. to either Retail or Food Service Clients
  • Experience in the produce industry a plus
