Senior Accountant – Financial Reporting

Palmer group is partnering with our financial client in their search for a Senior Accountant – Financial Reporting. This individual will prepare the statutory financial statement, collaborating with other departments to coordinate work requirements and deadlines. Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyze statutory statements and schedules 
  
  
• Research and resolve variances and inconsistencies through conducting an investigation and applying accounting techniques
  
  
• Complete statutory filing requirements for assigned entities including quarterly and annual statements as well as various state surveys and questionnaires
  
  
• Ensure that financial statements and supporting schedules are completed timely, accurately, and in accordance with accounting guidance
  
  
• Review and complete information requests from insurance regulatory authorities.
  
  
• Respond to regulatory requests and question
  
  
• Assist with annual external audits and examinations including the preparation of work papers, analysis of data, and information gathering Prepare Statutory basis annual financial report including footnotes
  
  
• Respond to other departmental requests involving financial information and assist with departmental projects 

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting 5+ years of accounting experience; with experience in the insurance industry preferred
  
  
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to draw conclusions from research and report on findings
  
  
• Experience with Oracle and Essbase is preferred
  
  
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a fast-paced environment are key

Work Model:

• Hybrid – 1 day per week WFH
