Senior Tax Manager

Palmer Group has partnered with this reputable client in the financial space to fill the Senior Tax Manager position. The Senior Tax Manager will define policy and review deliverables and report to SVP, Head of Tax and Assistant General Counsel. If you have expertise in GAAP and stat tax accounting, apply today!

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate the Company’s quarterly and annual GAAP and statutory provisions in coordination with the tax operations team
• Review premium tax, excise tax, and non-US filings
• Provide assistance in the development, feasibility modeling and implementation of the Company’s global tax strategy
• Aid in the implementation of the company’s new general ledger and tax provision tool
• Investigate issues that may arise and participate in completing various transactions and projects

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field of study, Master’s degree preferred
• 15+ years in tax accounting for the life insurance industry
• Previous statutory accounting experience preferred
• Substantial experience working with and understanding the tax code
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is preferred
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state tax laws
• ASC 740 and SSAP 101 for the life insurance industry is required
• Ability to perform technical tax research using multiple resources
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Outstanding analytical, organizational, and planning skills with attention to detail
• Strong problem-solving skills with ability to define practical problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to work cooperatively and successfully with employees, customers, and external advisors
• Ability to successfully handle pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment

• Remote, but open to an on-site or hybrid schedule as well
