Palmer Group is assisting one of our esteemed Des Moines clients in the search to fill their Simulation Technical Specialist role. The Simulation Technical Specialist will coordinate with the staff of the Simulation Center to design, prepare, train, operate, support, and assess all technical aspects of educational programs being conducted in the Simulation Center. Additionally, this position will function as the technical leader for the new and current inventory of technical simulation equipment essential to the efficient operation of the Simulation Center. Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Director, Managers, Staff, and Faculty to design and test integrated systems to support academic programs within the scope of the Simulation Center
  • Oversee the integration and operation of all technical systems within the Simulation Center, including patient simulators, AV equipment, mixed reality systems, computers, and networking infrastructure
  • Analyze and solve complex simulation technology problems
  • Provide advanced technical support to instructors, facilitators, and learners for simulation events, addressing complex technical issues and troubleshooting systems-related challenges, providing appropriate and timely solutions
  • Train, set, and assess the use of equipment to offer guidance on optimizing the use of simulation systems to enhance learning outcomes
  • Oversee the integration of software applications used in simulation and provide specialized advice, solutions, and troubleshooting
  • Implement a preventative maintenance schedule for all equipment and software that follows manufacturers’ recommendations to include identifying needed repairs and updates
  • Utilizes documentation/software systems to provide asset and inventory management that contains manufacturer information, warranty information, maintenance records and repair history
  • Manage all technical product warranties and life cycles.
  • Set up and maintain a reporting system for users to submit and track issues using this information to provide up-to-date information back to the users and to create regular reports for the Director
  • Maintain a comprehensive documentation of technical procedures, equipment configurations, and troubleshooting guides

Requirements:

  • Associate degree or technical certification in computer technology (e.g. hardware, networking, helpdesk, etc.) 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5 years of work-related experience (i.e., computer-technology experience preferably in a healthcare setting, medical simulation experience, equivalent military training, and/or biomedical experience)
  • Experience with audiovisual and/or information technology and/or simulation technology required
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or understanding of basic medical terms, procedures, or other health-related fields highly desirable, i.e., medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and/or biochemistry preferred
