Underwriting Data Analyst

Responsibilities:

• Perform reporting and data requests from internal stakeholders across the company
• Prepare data for analysis of client profitability and make suggestions for improvement
• Assist with pricing reviews
• Implement an underwriting model and guidelines to rate new and existing business
• Lead implementation of underwriting decisions through collaboration with client support and finance teams
• Collaborate with others to pinpoint and understand business questions, problems, and data needs
• Perform data cleansing and validation
• Identify and recommend process improvement opportunities in areas like data collection, validation, client renewal analysis, and implementation
• Utilize knowledge of data and business processes to make recommendations to stakeholders
• Seek out opportunities actively to learn new skills 
• Pull data from relevant databases and other sources and analyzes data to identify trends and variances in revenue and losses
• Develop, oversee, and provide projection reports.
• Supply in-depth qualitative and quantitative analyses to make recommendations for changes in how the company underwrites, distributes, markets, and sells products
• Create detailed client-level reporting
• Give material support for expansion and diversification initiatives
• Carry out research and studies to identify areas that could present opportunities
• Supply cross-functional consultation to advance company initiatives

Requirements:

• Four-year college degree in finance, statistics, business, or a related field 
• 3+ years of experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis in the insurance industry
• General data querying capabilities
• Understanding insurance and/or financial services is a bonus
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
