In this role, you will work closely with foremen, superintendents, and project managers to ensure safety and environmental procedures compliance. You’ll maintain a visible presence in the field, visiting job sites and engaging with employees throughout the day by addressing safety inquiries, checking employee PPE, and conducting incident investigations. What you will do:
- Implement and ensure compliance with safety policies and regulations (OSHA, MSHA, DOT)
- Advise the Safety Director on compliance issues and preventive actions
- Conduct safety training, surveys, inspections, and post-accident investigations
- Maintain safety records and prepare reports with recommendations
- Manage job site, equipment, and vehicle inspections for safe working conditions
- Directly influence and participate in building and developing the existing Safety Training Program
What you will need to be successful:
- 3+ years of safety-related construction experience, including OSHA, First Aid/CPR, Confined Spaces, DOT, and Excavation safety
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in environmental/occupational health and safety and CHST certification
- Skilled in writing detailed reports, documenting investigations, and presenting safety procedures to small groups
- Excellent computer and communication skills; ability to work in various weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and willingness to travel overnight (less than 10%)
- Ability to work weekends/holidays as needed, maintain regular attendance, and perform physical tasks (lifting up to 75 lbs., climbing, etc.)
