Palmer Group has partnered with our client in their search for a driven, hands-on Engineering Manager to lead their Fabrication business team. This high-level Operations management role will lead a team of Supervisors, Technicians, and Engineers to support day-to-day operations and enhance safety, cost, delivery, and quality of Classic and PRO series fabricated parts. They will also collaborate with all departments to problem-solve and find solutions.
The ideal candidate will possess experience leading lean initiatives within a lean operation, as well as demonstrated skills in creating effective teams, developing direct reports, organizational flexibility, decision quality, and analyzing work completed. What you will do:
- Manage a team of 10-12 engineers, technicians, and supervisors, including identifying and implementing initiatives to meet business objectives
- Partner with departmental leaders to ensure they have the ability to meet the fabrication goals given by the Site Leader and BU Leader
- Direct others on how to identify operational waste and prioritize activity to enhance impact
- Recognize and prioritize drivers that are negatively affecting performance data
- Perform data analytics and identify root causes by coordinating cross-functional resources
- Support brainstorming of solution options, identifying the highest value-creating solution; execute solutions
- Implement initiatives to improve Safety, Delivery, Cost, and Quality by prioritizing organizational needs and organizing cross-functional resources
What you will need to be successful:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
- Outstanding leadership and communication skills
- A professional and positive attitude
- Understanding of lean operations; experience driving lean initiatives in a manufacturing environment
- 5-10 years of experience in an operational role
- 3-5 years of leadership experience in an operations environment
- 5 years of Lean and/or 6 Sigma experience
- Excellent computer and analytical skills
- Experience with root cause analysis, experimental design, and cross-functional leadership
