Environmental Engineer

We are working with a well-known manufacturer for a driven Environmental Engineer to lead and manage critical environmental compliance initiatives across our operations. In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring our facilities meet and exceed environmental standards. From managing air and water permits to spearheading recycling programs and training teams on safe chemical handling, your work will directly contribute to a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable future.

What you will do:

  • Oversee compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations (IDNR, EPA, etc.)
  • Manage permits related to air, stormwater, wastewater, and drinking water
  • Track and report hazardous and non-hazardous waste generation and disposal
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets and ensure proper signage and storage of materials
  • Conduct air quality monitoring and maintain emission points
  • Lead recycling initiatives and sustainability programs
  • Provide training on chemical handling, waste management, and hazard communication
  • Support safety and HR teams with audits, testing, and compliance documentation

What you will need to be successful:

  • A degree in environmental, civil, or mechanical engineering
  • Familiarity with IDNR and EPA regulations
  • Ability to obtain a Grade A Water Certification within 6 months
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • A proactive mindset and a passion for environmental responsibility
