Investment Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical individual to join our client’s team as an Investment Accountant. This role plays a critical part in delivering timely, accurate, and reliable financial data. The analyst will be responsible for executing daily, monthly, and quarterly accounting operations related to investments, borrowings, and derivatives. What you will do:

  • Lead or assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process through journal entries, reconciliations, account analysis, and financial reporting, all within a controlled and deadline-driven environment
  • Ensure accurate accounting and financial reporting for complex financial products in accordance with GAAP and FHFA regulations
  • Conduct high-level financial and trend analysis, interpreting market movements and presenting findings to senior leadership
  • Cross-train and support accounting tasks related to mortgages, advances, capital stock, affordable housing programs, employee benefits, and other corporate initiatives
  • Partner with various departments to evaluate product activities and monitor financial markets
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying innovative methods for verifying and reviewing financial data
  • Support accurate and timely preparation of SEC filings and other regulatory submissions
  • Participate in internal and external audits, including responses to FHFA examiner inquiries
  • Demonstrate proficiency in financial systems and accounting software
  • Collaborate on projects to streamline processes, mitigate risk, and enhance operational efficiency
  • Research and interpret accounting standards and regulatory changes impacting the Bank

What you will need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (required)
  • MBA or Master of Accountancy (preferred)
  • CPA certification (preferred)
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience or 2+ years in public accounting
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in:
    • Monthly close processes
    • Financial statement preparation and review
    • SEC reporting and compliance
    • SOX/internal control frameworks
    • Financial instruments and capital markets
    • Leading or coordinating projects
