What you will do:
- Analyze production processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities
- Identify and implement changes to boost productivity, enhance equipment utilization, and reduce waste
- Perform time studies and manufacturing cost comparisons to establish performance standards
- Lead engineering and plant improvement projects from feasibility review through handoff to production
- Collaborate with production teams to support innovation and streamline workflow
- Create and maintain data collection systems for tracking performance and process adherence
- Evaluate materials, equipment, and fabrication methods to support optimization efforts
- Manage multiple improvement projects at once and document findings through clear reports, drawings, or spreadsheets
What you will need to be successful:
- Experience in metal fabrication processes such as cutting, bending, and welding
- Proficiency with CAD and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to perform data collection, interpretation, troubleshooting, and critical analysis
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for presenting findings to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with production teams
- Comfort spending about 50% of the time on the shop floor
- Experience with time studies, cost comparisons, or plant layout analysis (preferred)
- Additional experience in materials sourcing or logistics (preferred)
