Palmer Group has partnered with a local client in their search for a Risk Specialist. This individual will be responsible for effectively overseeing the institution’s risks. - Reside within a 30-mile radius of the designated office or are willing to relocate
What you will do:
- Provide support, development, and enhancement to the enterprise risk management program and framework for all aspects of risks across the company
- Conduct risk assessments using various quantitative and qualitative methodologies
- Assist with the development of risk management policies, including the quantification of the risk appetite through specific risk limits
- Implement a set of risk metrics and reports, including losses and incidents, key risk exposures, and early warning indicators
- Identify potential risks and present mitigating solutions by reviewing and analyzing data, observing processes, and collaborating with staff
- Implement and apply industry best practices in addressing governance, risk, and control-related matters as appropriate
- Collaborate with departmental management in implementing governance and risk management programs within their functions
What you will need to be successful:
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related major
- 4+ years of experience at a financial institution, in or a combination of risk management, business operations or support, audit, quality control or assurance, or related positions
- 2+ years of risk management (or closely related) experience at a financial institution
- Strong understanding of regulatory laws, regulations, compliance requirements, and regulatory environment
- Risk management experience, including acquaintance with enterprise risk management frameworks
- Self-starter with excellent attention to detail, communication, presentation, and follow-up skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to tackle intricate problems, breaking them down into controllable tasks
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to advise staff-level employees through members of the executive leadership team
