Safety Specialist

Our well-established client is seeking a full-time Safety Specialist. The Safety Specialist will support the RGL operations team, team leaders, foremen, and all teammates in all safety aspects. This role requires a strong passion for leading and mentoring others in safety, providing leadership, and coordinating daily safety requirements to reduce or eliminate injuries and incidents. The Safety Specialist will lead an existing, thriving safety program within one of the largest logistics organizations in the area, serving Fortune 500 companies. Work model:

  • 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

What you will do:

  • Maintain a visible presence on the operating floors and perform site visits at least once per week per location
  • Schedule visits with site leaders
  • Guide and mentor teammates, trainers, and leaders to ensure all safety expectations are understood and met
  • Conduct regular audits of facilities for food and life safety compliance and hazard identification, mentor and implement RGL’s EH&S programs, and keep all OSHA-required records and reports
  • Oversee the completion of all safety requirements such as Hearing Conservation, industrial hygiene surveys, CPR/First Aid, etc.
  • Lead safety and wellness ambassadors and empower members to develop and achieve specific safety goals and objectives
  • Facilitate new hire safety orientation and all teammate safety training, ensuring all required documentation concerning food or life safety is completed
  • Stay updated with applicable legislation and standards to ensure compliance
  • Inform the company of any new or conflicting legislative matters and assist with all data entry for safety training and compliance
  • Support the implementation and administration of hazard control methods, safety procedures, and security programs
  • Report incidents immediately, participate and assist in the investigation to determine root cause and corrective actions
  • Follow up on injured teammates with modified work
  • Update safety board postings, first aid kits, etc. as needed
  • Ensure all safety materials are available at the sites: EH&S manual, site safety inspection forms, observation forms, log books, fall protection plans, SDS books, etc., and prepare for and participate in all audits
  • Organize regular meetings with leadership to review issues, trends, audit findings, and upcoming events or conditions

What you will need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, business management, organizational development, or a related field
  • Safety certification preferred
  • Occupational Health and Safety 1910 knowledge; OSHA 30 Training preferred
  • 3+ years experience developing and implementing safety initiatives in manufacturing or warehousing environment
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office applications, and more
