Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant will collaborate closely with the Controller and team to support the company by performing month-end close, reconciliations, and providing insights on various accounting and financial matters. This role demands a high degree of confidentiality and requires independent judgment and discretion in executing duties. What you will do:

  • Oversee the general ledger, prepare journal entries, analyze accounts, reconcile, and close books monthly
  • Conduct analysis and provide insights on ad hoc projects as directed by the Controller, including key contact for Lease accounting, Sales & Use tax preparation and filing, FP&A, financial reporting projects, resolving accounting issues, process improvements, tax schedules, sales by state, and more
  • Work with other key members of the organization
  • Help update and implement company policies and procedures
  • Discover opportunities to efficiently offer fiduciary leadership and enhance a strong internal controls environment
  • Enhance and streamline business processes and accounting systems by collaborating with company systems and other departments to ensure the accuracy, usefulness, and timeliness of financial statements provided to management
  • Aid in compliance with Sarbanes/Oxley, including active participation in control matrix and process narrative updates, ensuring adherence to accounting policies and procedures, and assisting in the ongoing development and implementation of new controls, policies, and procedures
  • Contribute to the preparation of interpretive analysis of business performance for management use
  • Execute other duties as assigned

What you need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Staff/General Ledger Accountant, Accounting Supervisor/Accounting Manager, in a manufacturing environment
  • AS400 Legacy ERP experience preferred
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; detail-oriented
  • Ability to partner effectively with internal business clients in budgeting, forecasting, and decision support
  • Advanced Excel, Microsoft Office, and PDF skills required
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of accounting practices and principles, financial statements, and financial analysis methods and tools
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with other employees across various levels of the organization
