    This locally-owned and highly reputable community bank is seeking a strategic, analytical, and forward-thinking professional to serve as its next Credit Officer. This individual will be a key member of the leadership team, working closely with the CEO and overseeing the bank’s credit quality and credit culture. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across commercial and agricultural lending operations, while helping to drive the long-term financial health of the institution.

    What you will do:

    • Lead and manage all aspects of bank-wide credit policy and credit administration
    • Serve as the primary decision-maker for complex credit matters, including loan approval within lending authority
    • Develop, update, and oversee the implementation of the Bank’s Loan Policy and risk rating systems
    • Monitor overall loan quality and compliance with internal policies and regulations
    • Participate actively in the Loan Committee, ALCO, pricing, and strategic planning initiatives
    • Serve as the key contact for internal/external auditors and regulatory examiners on all credit matters
    • Supervise underwriting, loan operations, credit analysis, and loan workout functions
    • Analyze and report on credit risk, portfolio concentration, watch list assets, and adequacy of loan loss reserves
    • Coach and mentor lending staff, supporting a strong credit culture across the bank
    • Oversee the liquidation of repossessed assets and Other Real Estate Owned (OREO)
    • Promote process improvement and consistency across credit functions and branches

    What you will need to be successful:

    • 4+ years of progressive credit or lending experience (10+ years preferred, but not required)
    • Background in commercial lending; ag lending exposure is a plus, but not required
    • Strong knowledge of credit risk, underwriting, and regulatory standards
    • Direct management experience is preferred but not required for the right candidate
    • Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field; formal credit training is strongly preferred
    • Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills
    • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
