Our client is seeking a strategic Controller to lead accounting and financial operations for a growing construction and real estate business. This role combines hands-on accounting leadership with exposure to strategic finance, offering the opportunity to manage day-to-day operations while supporting longer-term growth initiatives. You will oversee a small accounting team, partner with project and operations leadership, and ensure accurate financial reporting and project-level cost tracking. What You Will Do:

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and project accounting
  • Maintain accurate job cost tracking for multiple projects, including budgets, forecasts, and cost-to-complete reporting
  • Manage draws, lender reporting, retainage, and compliance with financial agreements
  • Partner with operations and project managers to support budgeting, variance analysis, and decision-making
  • Lead and develop a small accounting team, ensuring clear roles and effective processes
  • Implement and optimize accounting systems and workflows across multiple platforms
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements

What You Will Need To Be Successful:

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, project accounting, job costing, and multi-entity structures
  • Experience in construction, real estate development, or property management highly preferred
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative, approachable, and team-oriented style
  • CPA or CMA preferred but not required
