They are searching for a Mortgage Underwriter to join their team. This is an opportunity to join an experienced and collaborative underwriting team where your judgment, analytical ability, and mortgage expertise will directly impact both member experience and business growth.
This role offers a blend of autonomy and collaboration, giving the right individual the ability to leverage underwriting expertise while partnering closely with internal teams to deliver efficient, compliant lending decisions.
Work Model:
- On-Site / Hybrid (2 Days Remote)
What You Will Do:
- Review, evaluate, and make underwriting decisions on residential mortgage applications in accordance with investor and internal lending guidelines
- Perform detailed credit analysis, income evaluation, asset review, and risk assessment to support sound lending decisions
- Clear underwriting conditions and ensure loans move efficiently through the approval and closing process
- Partner closely with mortgage operations, processing, and lending teams to resolve issues and identify alternative solutions when loans cannot be approved as initially structured
- Maintain established service-level expectations while balancing quality, accuracy, and member experience
- Interpret and apply mortgage regulations, compliance requirements, and evolving underwriting standards
- Contribute to process improvement efforts and support a collaborative team environment through knowledge sharing and problem-solving
What You Will Need to Be Successful:
- 2+ years of mortgage underwriting experience with secondary market exposure
- Experience in making independent underwriting decisions and credit assessments
- Working knowledge of mortgage guidelines, compliance, and lending practices
- Ability to manage multiple files while maintaining accuracy and turnaround expectations
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Effective communication and collaboration across teams
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail
