Palmer Group is partnering with a well-respected client to recruit a detail-oriented Risk Consulting contractor to oversee workers’ compensation self-insurance reporting and regulatory compliance activities. This position supports multi-state filing requirements, payroll and financial reporting, and ongoing compliance obligations. What You Will Do:
- Oversee reporting timelines and coordinate the completion of quarterly, annual, and ad hoc state filing requirements
- Gather, analyze, and validate payroll records, classification codes, hours worked, claims data, financial reports, actuarial studies, and other supporting documentation required for regulatory submissions
- Liaise with clients, third-party administrators (TPAs), actuaries, brokers, and state regulatory bodies to secure necessary information and ensure compliance deadlines are met
- Compile, file, and monitor submissions through state self-insurance and workers’ compensation reporting systems
- Support clients in fulfilling portal certification processes, payment obligations, and other regulatory requirements
- Organize and maintain comprehensive records of filings, communications, supporting materials, and proof of payments
- Facilitate the enrollment of new entities into state self-insurance programs and manage ongoing registration updates
- Evaluate surety bonds, letters of credit, and related financial security instruments; coordinate modifications and provide documentation requested by regulatory agencies
- Track compliance milestones, communicate upcoming deadlines, and monitor legislative or regulatory developments that may impact client obligations
What You Will Need to Be Successful:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, risk management, human resources, finance, insurance, or a comparable field
- 3+ years of experience supporting workers’ compensation, self-insurance programs, risk management, payroll reporting, insurance services, or related compliance functions
- Proven ability to coordinate multiple projects, manage priorities, and communicate effectively with internal and external partners
- Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail with the ability to meet critical deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Hands-on experience handling workers’ compensation self-insurance reporting and filings across multiple states
- Prior experience in risk management, HR, payroll administration, insurance brokerage, consulting, or regulatory environments
- Understanding of self-insurance compliance requirements, monopolistic state fund programs, and state reporting systems
- Knowledge of surety bonds, letters of credit, actuarial analyses, and financial security requirements for self-insured organizations
