Our client is searching for a Metallurgical Process Technician/Engineer to support heat treatment and metallurgical processes within an industrial manufacturing environment. The position focuses on maintaining process controls, ensuring quality standards, and driving continuous improvement across production operations. What You Will Do:

  • Maintain and track heat treat records in accordance with defined standards
  • Review and approve processing documentation; escalate non-conformance issues
  • Set up, operate, and monitor furnaces, ovens, and quenching systems
  • Track temperatures, cycle times, and cooling rates to meet specifications
  • Inspect treated parts using measurement tools such as micrometers and hardness testers
  • Record and file process data within designated systems and directories
  • Prepare test samples, including tensile and destructive testing specimens
  • Support metallurgical analysis through specimen prep, including macro and micro polishing
  • Monitor equipment capacity and cycle utilization across heat treat operations
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance activities with maintenance teams
  • Assist with fixtures, surveys, and dimensional checks as needed
  • Update and maintain work instructions and process documentation
  • Troubleshoot process deviations using structured problem-solving methods
  • Support continuous improvement of heat treatment and production processes

What You Will Need to Be Successful:

  • Associate or technical degree in a mechanical, metallurgical, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Prior experience in heat treatment within a foundry or industrial manufacturing setting
  • Working knowledge of thermal processing equipment and material behavior
  • Familiarity with inspection tools and metallurgical testing methods
  • Ability to interpret and follow written work instructions and technical procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks
  • Comfortable working on the production floor and collaborating across teams
