The Melt Manager leads daily operations in a metal-melting department, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production of aluminum and magnesium products. This role oversees staffing, training, process control, and production flow, while driving improvements in quality, cost, and throughput. The position requires close coordination with production, engineering, and quality teams to meet customer specifications and maintain compliance with safety and operational standards.

What You Will Do:

  • Oversee melting operations to ensure materials meet chemical and physical specifications while aligning production schedules with downstream needs
  • Lead, schedule, and develop production staff to achieve output, quality, and performance targets
  • Enforce environmental, health, and safety standards, including PPE compliance and adherence to company policies and labor agreements
  • Monitor and optimize key production inputs–materials, equipment, and manpower–while driving improvements to reduce scrap, dross loss, and downtime
  • Coordinate maintenance of furnaces, ladles, and related equipment, including refractory lining inspections and repairs
  • Maintain accurate inventory and production records, implement corrective actions for process issues, and support team training, communication, and accountability

What You Will Need to Be Successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, metallurgy, industrial engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in foundry or metal casting
  • Experience with aluminum and/or magnesium melting processes is a plus
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage production metrics, quality standards, and competing operational priorities
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards, with the ability to balance administrative duties and shop floor leadership
